Hank Gunner was a longshoreman who was arrested for manslaughter in 1975 after he killed a man in a bar fight and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. During his stay in prison Hank wrote letters to his daughter Hannah and his wife Carol. Carol made the decision to protect Hannah by keeping the letters from her. After two years of being ignored Hank eventually gave up. He began turning his thoughts into travels. He planned on traveling the world. He would read books from the prison library like, Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer, The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Travels With Lizbeth: Three Years on the Road and on the Streets by Lars Eighner. He has asked prisoners leaving prison to send him postcards. His cell is covered with exotic postcards, statues and calendars from places all over the world. In 1986 Hank receives a visit from his now eighteen-year-old daughter Hannah. The visit becomes more than a rekindling of the relationship. Director: Kevin J. O'Neill.
